Selected projects in which NSN Alliance lawyers represented and defended the rights and interests of clients:

• A major international manufacturer of food packaging products in a successful resolution of the tax dispute resulting in the right for the VAT deduction, as well as immunity from collection of VAT, fines and interest totaling to over 3 million USD.
• A major international manufacturer of confectionary products in a successful representation under the criminal case related to the tax dispute.
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute worth approximately US$4.5 million involving a major hotel chain, including a hearing by the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation
• Successful resolution of a number of tax disputes involving a major international oil producer in connection with a VAT refund of approximately US$15 million, including a hearing by the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation
• Successful and precedent-setting representation of a contractor and subcontractors under a production-sharing agreement in tax disputes over the deduction of VAT (to our knowledge, the first experience with tax disputes involving production sharing agreements on Sakhalin)
• Successful resolution of a number of tax disputes involving a division of a major Japanese manufacturer participating in the Sakhalin-2 Production Sharing Agreement in connection with a VAT refund of approximately US$2.5 million
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute worth approximately US$200,000 involving a major Moscow hotel
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute worth approximately US$1.5 million involving a major German cosmetics manufacturer
• Successful resolution of tax disputes worth approximately US$24 million involving a major international manufacturer of photographic equipment
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute worth approximately US$4 million involving a Russian company dealing in real estate (land)
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute worth approximately US$6.8 million involving a major international tobacco company
• Successful resolution of tax disputes worth approximately US$2 million involving a major producer of nonalcoholic beverages in numerous tax episodes
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute worth approximately US$8 million involving a major international tobacco company
• Successful and precedent-setting resolution of a tax dispute involving an international air carrier, saving the client over US$600,000 in overdue turnover taxes and over US$570,000 in tax sanctions
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute involving an international company engaged in heavy machine building which saved the client over US$1.3 million in VAT and over US$380,000 in penalties and fines
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute involving a major international oil producer which saved the client US$4 million in profits tax and penalties
• Legal aid in criminal actions brought in connection with international tax disputes
• Successful resolution of a tax dispute involving a top world software developer in connection with the transfer of intellectual property rights, saving the client approximately US$6 million in VAT and profits tax and over US$400,000 in fines
• Successful resolution of a number of tax disputes involving a major Russian developer in connection with industrial real estate construction, as a result of which a VAT deduction was allowed, and the client saved approximately US$8 million in VAT, penalties and fines

• Representation of a foreign construction company in connection with a countersuit against a Russian company in the food industry for a total of over $89 million
• Protection of the interests of an international cosmetics manufacturer in a suit involving trademark infringement by means of cybersquatting — illegal registration of a domain name for speculative resale
• Protection of the interests of a pipeline owner in a number of disputes involving land and environmental issues
• Court representation of a foreign investor's interests in a group of related shareholder disputes with Russian partners in a joint venture
• Successful resolution of a labor dispute involving an international construction-chemical producer, preventing a former employee from wrongfully collecting substantial compensation and being reinstated
• Representation of a major international company in a number of civil disputes worth a total of over US$3 million, including corporate-law and commercial issues
